A loyal dog was seen standing guard at the gate of a funeral home, refusing to leave after its elderly owner passed away in central China.

The video was filmed in Yichang in Hubei Province on April 10.

The dog, which had reportedly been at the site for five days, seemed to be lingering perhaps due to the scent of its late owner. The staff at the funeral home, deeply moved by the display of loyalty, confirmed the dog's vigil.

Eventually, a local rescue station stepped in, providing a temporary home for the grief-stricken canine. Mr. Zhang, a dog lover, shared that there is now a hopeful plea for nearby kind-hearted individuals to adopt the loyal pet.
