Firefighters saved an elderly villager trapped under a collapsed wall during his home renovation in China.

The video was filmed in Ruicheng County in Shanxi Province on April 5.

A devastating accident occurred when an elderly couple were renovating their dilapidated home. As they worked, a wall of their old house suddenly collapsed, tragically trapping one of them beneath the rubble. Despite their efforts to escape, the elderly individual was unable to evade the falling debris in time.

Immediately after the catastrophe, the family made an urgent call to the emergency services. Responding to the distress call, Ruicheng County’s fire and rescue team dispatched six firefighters and a fire engine to the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered the villager half-buried, with legs covered in dirt and debris, immobilised but conscious.

Faced with a precarious situation as the wall adjacent to the victim threatened to collapse further, the rescue team had to act swiftly to prevent further injury.

With comforting words, they reassured the trapped villager while they meticulously removed the earth by hand. After a tense 30 minutes of emergency rescue operations, the firefighters successfully extricated the villager, who was immediately rushed to the hospital.

Thankfully, the victim was reported to be out of any life-threatening danger after the rescue.
