This shocking footage shows what remained of a Lamborghini after the supercar crashed into a lamp post at high speed and was reduced to scrap.

Miraculously, its driver, not identified in local media, survived the collision in Beijing, China, with only minor injuries.

Video footage filmed at the scene on April 11 shows the orange sports car, apparently a Lamborghini Gallardo, which sells for up to GBP 180,000, had collided sideways with a roadside lamppost, with the right side destroyed.

The roof of the car was lifted open and the passenger compartment on the driver's side remained relatively intact. The steering wheel airbag was deployed, indicating that the driver was saved by the advanced safety features.

The driver had been travelling so fast when they struck the pole that the car was no longer worth repairing, essentially making it scrap.

Many onlookers were present at the scene while police and paramedics worked to clear the wreckage and prevent any further accidents.

According to witnesses, the car suffered severe damage, and the driver had minor injuries to the legs.

It is unclear exactly how the crash occurred.
