Celebrations at a picnic soon turned into a tragic experience after a swarm of bees attacked a group of youths in central India's Madhya Pradesh.

Footage from April 13 shows the group trying to escape the swarm in Asirgarh.

According to reports, around 25 people were left injured by the bees and eight are in a critical condition.

Authorities learnt that someone had thrown a stone at a beehive.

Celebrations at a picnic soon turned into a tragic experience after a swarm of bees attacked a group of youths in central India's Madhya Pradesh.

This incident took place at the Asirgarh fort in Burhanpur on April 13.

Visuals showed the youths running for cover as the swarm of bees launched an attack at them. The insects were relentless in their attack and didn't let go, flying about the whole area as the men covered their heads and ran away to save their lives. Some were seen sitting as well as lying by the sides of the road where this happened and it was a completely chaotic situation. Later on, visuals from the hospital showed the victims lying on the beds. One of them experienced vomiting and the others laid down and were seemingly hurt in this bee attack. A guard at the fort had his face completely swollen as a result of the bee attack and had come for treatment well.

The aggressive bees left a minimum of 25 people injured. The authorities came up with a prompt response to the attack with police forces and ambulances rushing to the spot to aid the injured. Locals who were at the fort also were involved in the chaos. Speaking to Newslions, Om Gautam, a local resident/rescuer, said, "The fort had about 70 people out of which 25 sustained injuries and several of the ones which fell victim to the bee attack. All of this was caused when one of these men threw a stone at a beehive after there was a lot of smoke that emanated while cooking food. The victims were rushed to the hospital for treatment."

Dr Devendra Jhariya stated that eight to nine of those injured were undergoing treatment and were in stable condition. All the victims were treated and discharged from the hospital as well.
