One dead as a speeding car ran a red light and smashed into vehicles in an opposing lane in southern China.

Shocking CCTV footage filmed in Fuzhou City in Jiangxi Province on April 14, shows a car running a red light and speeding into three vehicles that were stopped at the traffic lights in the opposite lane.

The violent impact left all four vehicles severely damaged and scattered debris across the intersection, bringing traffic to a standstill. Emergency services rushed to the scene to provide immediate aid to the victims.

One person was declared dead at the scene and five others were transported to hospital with various injuries.

Authorities have detained the driver responsible, identified as 51-year-old Mr. Huang, and an intensive investigation is underway to determine the full circumstances of the accident.
