A truck driver fell asleep on the road and then quickly swerved between two motorbikes upon waking up.

The eight-wheeler was approaching a red light stop at an intersection when the driver dozed off due to fatigue in Talisay City, the Philippines, on April 14 morning.

CCTV footage shows the lorry heading straight to the path where two motorcycle riders were stopped.

It almost crashed behind the two motorists, but with only seconds to spare upon waking up, it veered to the middle, hitting the yellow traffic cones instead and passing between the riders, preventing the accident.

A spokesman from the Traffic Operations and Development Authority (CT-TODA) said: ‘The driver admitted he was sleep-deprived. He told us he worked for almost 20 hours with only four hours of rest.'

Only one traffic cone was ran and nothing else was damaged while no one was hurt.

The driver was remanded in custody for an investigation.
