An 86-year-old former principal married his first love, 81, after 60 years apart in southern China.

The heartwarming video was filmed in Yiyang City in Hunan Province on April 14.

Mr. Zhou Guilin, the 86-year-old former principal of Gaoping High School in Yiyang, married his first love from his university days at Peking University, the 81-year-old Ms. Yang Xiugui.

The wedding venue buzzed with excitement, featuring a lengthy red carpet where the elderly couple walked hand in hand, surrounded by students waving flags and local performance groups contributing to the festive atmosphere.

The couple originally met in the early days of the People's Republic of China while they were both students at Peking University, sharing a friendship and a deep love for each other. However, due to historical circumstances and various life events, they parted ways to pursue careers in different locations, leaving their dream of marriage unfulfilled.

Despite building separate families and enjoying lives surrounded by children and grandchildren, the passing of their respective spouses rekindled their long-lost love.

Now in their twilight years, their marriage has been wholeheartedly supported by their families and friends. Sixty years after their first encounter, the Peking University alumni declared their love in front of loved ones, finally tying the knot.

婚礼现场异常热闹，数十米长的红地毯铺在地上，两位老人走在红地毯的中央，周围学生挥舞着旗帜，还有当地的演出团体前来助兴，可以说人潮涌动、锣鼓喧天。
据了解，两位老人是在新中国成立初期相识，当时他们在北大就读，是同窗好友，也是彼此倾心的恋人。
因为历史的原因，两人分开了，到不同的地方工作。加上各种现实原因，这对恋人没能实现结婚的梦想，但是他们曾经美好的恋爱时光让他们终身难忘。
随后，周桂林投身教育事业，担任益阳高平中学的校长，并建立了新的家庭，享受着儿孙绕膝的幸福生活。
杨秀桂女士，也组建了自己的家庭，并且享有着儿孙满堂的幸福生活。
然而，后来对方的另一半都提前离世，他们得知彼此已经单身，于是萌生了延续前缘的念头。
两位当事人如今已经是耄耋之年，然而他们的婚姻得到了子女和亲朋们的全力支持。
在60年前就坠入爱河的北大校友，最终在亲朋好友的见证下，正式宣布步入婚姻殿堂。
