A fight in the Parliament of Georgia in Tbilisi
This footage was filmed and produced 15 April 2024.
[Note: speech in Georgian]
At a meeting of the Legal committee of the Parliament of Georgia, the leader of the Citizens party, Aleko Elisashvili, fought with a representative of the parliamentary majority, one of the leaders of the ruling Georgian Dream party, Mamuka Mdinaradze.
This happened during the discussion of the law "on foreign agents". At the moment when Mdinaradze was arguing with the representative of the Lelo party, Anna Natsvlishvili, about the controversial project, Elisashvili approached the representative of the majority standing behind the podium and punched him in the face. After that, both deputies left the meeting room. Meanwhile, the fight between the deputies continued in the corridor, media reported.
After the fight, according to the deputy himself, he was expelled from the parliament building.
Half an hour later, the meeting of the legal committee resumed. The chairman of the committee, Henri Ohanashvili, addressed the opposition.
