American tourists will again need a visa to visit Brazil
This footage was filmed and produced 2 March 2024.
Starting April 10, 2025, citizens of the United States, Canada and Australia will face new requirements to enter Brazil, according to the latest regulations implemented by Lula da Silva's government.
This change in the visa policy, which was initially planned for 2024, seeks to standardize the entry processes to the country, including visitors for tourism or cruise trips, who must process the electronic visa, which was used until 2019 for those countries. .
The new eVisa for Brazil will cost USD 80.90 and will offer a validity of 10 years with the possibility of multiple entries to the country, although limiting the stay to 90 days per year.
This regulatory change is aligned with global practices in the management of international mobility and represents an effort to strengthen security and migration control, while maintaining openness towards tourism and international relations.
Likewise, it occurs in a context in which Brazil has experienced a significant increase in the arrival of international tourists. In the first nine months of 2023, the country welcomed almost 6 million foreign visitors, with US citizens standing out as the second largest group, only surpassed by Argentine visitors.
