Volcano eruption turns night sky red in Indonesia

This is the spectacular moment the night sky glowed red due to the eruption of Mount Ruang in Indonesia.

The volcano, which is located in North Sulawesi province, erupted again on Wednesday evening at around 8:15 pm local time.

Several lightning strikes were also seen amidst the clouds of ash, making the atmosphere even more scary for residents.

The Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) reported that the height of the ash column was observed to be around 3,000 meters above the peak or 3,725 meters above sea level.

The organistaion said that there was earthquake activity and that since Tuesday evening April 16, Mount Ruang had erupted four times.

As a result of this natural phenomenon, 828 residents were evacuated to safer places. No casualties have been reported.
