A cleaning lady faced an unexpected obstacle while trying to collect rubbish in a local park when an indignant goose objected to potential food dropped by visitors being whisked away.

The cleaner was one of a team working to tidy up the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum in the city of Nanjing, in Jiangsu, China, on April 13.

However, the goose was seen objecting loudly as the bin was emptied and its source of food disappeared while the cleaner tried to keep the large goose at bay using a pair of collection tongs.

The goose continued its angry honking, attracting the interest of people nearby who grabbed their phones to film what was going on.

Eyewitnesses said that the woman had picked up bread and other scraps that the goose had been feeding on and it was furious at the loss of food before it could finish its meal.
