At approximately 6:45 P.M., LAPD's Central Division dispatched a call regarding a traffic collision involving a Sheriff's bus transporting prisoners. The bus collided with a white Nissan in the intersection of 7th and Figueroa. Both vehicles pulled over to the side of the road on the 600 block of 7th Street, between Grand and Hope Street. LAPD officers and sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene to transfer imamates from the sheriff's transport bus to waiting LAFD ambulances. A source close to the scene stated that there were 13 inmates on the bus at the time of the collision. According to LAFD spokesperson Nicholas Prange, at least eight inmates (all between the ages of 18 and 24), were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Nissan declined medical services and remained on scene to cooperate with authorities.
