A huge 14ft python was caught in the roof of a duck coop in Thailand.

The snake had slithered into the net-covered structure hoping to devour the fowl when it was found by the farm owner in Nakhon Ratchasima province on March 27.

Animal rescuers arrived at the scene, where the python was resting on the ridge beam of the coop. They used a stick to prod the reptile from its perch before dragging it to the ground.

The officers said the python weighed a whopping 40 kilogrammes. It was sealed inside a sack and later released into the forest.

The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
