A baby monitor lizard that was stuck in the hole of a plastic tray was rescued.

Footage shows the ten-inch long reptile with its body caught in the narrow gap of a stackable tray being gently pulled out in Samut Prakan province, Thailand on April 3.

The animal squirmed but it was eventually freed and released into the back of the shop.

One of its rescuers Wannachai Kairit said: 'We saw the tiny lizard that couldn't crawl out of the hole. We don't know for how long it was there but we did our best to save and then released it.'

Asian water monitor lizards normally live in canals, swamps, sewers and ponds in cities in Thailand. They feed on fish, snakes, frogs and scraps of food left by humans.
