This week, Chinese designers from children to professionals are making waves in Milan, the Italian capital of fashion.

With millions of visitors from all over the world, this year's edition of Milan Design Week is for the first time showcasing China's most up-to-date designs.

The first edition of the China and Design exhibition is underway in the street of Paolo Sarpi, the site of one of Europe's biggest Chinatowns.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): YU TING, Teacher at China Academy of Art's School of Social and Aesthetic Education
"This time, we have brought installation art works designed by children to Milan Design Week's China and Design exhibition. This is a very good platform.
We hope that children's designs, ideas and concepts about design, and their works can be presented in a fashionable city like Milan. And we also hope that more Chinese children can have opportunities to present their works on the international stage, to convey the charm of Chinese nature, Chinese culture and Chinese tradition."

SOUNDBITE 2 (Italian): MARGHERITA, Italian visitor
"I came to the exhibition today because I am very interested in Chinese culture and I believe that cultural exchange is the basis for mutual understanding. I like the Chinese elements. These design items are very beautiful. I can learn a lot here. After seeing these beautiful exhibits, I hope to have a pleasant trip to China."

SOUNDBITE 3 (Italian): MARCO, Italian visitor
"I hope that the Milan Design Week next year will still leave some room for this kind of Chinese designs."
