STORYLINE:

With China and Russia celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year, the "Sino-Russian Young Scholars Forum: Future Development of Bilateral Relations in the New Environment" co-hosted by Jilin University and the Russian Academy of Sciences was held Thursday in northeast China's Jilin Province.

Dozens of scholars from China and Russia gathered to discuss new opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in fields such as economy, trade, and culture.

Director of the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences K.V. Babaev believes that young people from both countries should continue to strengthen exchanges, and the friendship between the two nations will continue in the future.

"That's a very valuable and very important event, because young people from Russia and China, they need each other, they need new knowledge, they need new exchange of opinions. And this forum gives a great opportunity for Russian and Chinese students and young scientists to exchange opinions, to bring new ideas. We are now discussing quite a lot of questions of geopolitics, economy, bilateral relations, and international relations in the Asia Pacific region, which are of importance for the future. And those young scientists who are now speaking about that, they will form the future. So definitely, it's quite a valuable event, and we should make it an annual event in my opinion."
