A fisherman released a baby sea turtle tangled in a ghost net.

Muek found the trash floating on the surface with the juvenile marine creature struggling to free itself inside in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, Thailand on April 9.

He pulled it onto his boat and untangled the animal before returning it to its habitat.

Footage shows Muek picking the animal out of the net and tossing it back into the water, where it swam away without injuries.

Turtles are particularly vulnerable to ghost nets. They can become entangled in the nets, which can lead to severe injuries, restricted mobility, and even drowning. When turtles are caught in ghost nets, they often struggle to reach the surface to breathe, eventually leading to their demise.

Ghost nets can also threaten turtles by introducing synthetic materials into their habitats and food chains. Turtles may mistake pieces of ghost nets or other debris for food, leading to ingestion and potential internal injuries or blockages.
