Arab League chief Ahmed Aboul Gheit and UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese, who works on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, on Sunday called for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and unimpeded humanitarian aid delivery to the enclave.
They made the remarks during a meeting in Cairo on the humanitarian situation in Gaza in light of the ongoing regional tension.
Aboul Gheit expressed his support for Albanese in the face of the frenzied incitement campaigns carried out against her.
He also stressed that the crimes of the Israeli occupation cannot in any way be considered as mistakes or collateral damage of military action.
