Drone footage captures catastrophic floods and landslides in southern China after torrential rains

The video was filmed in Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province, on April 21.

Multiple landslides occurred, impacting six villages and leading to houses being buried and residents trapped. In response, local authorities have mobilised over 300 rescue workers to participate in the emergency efforts.

As the heavy rains have damaged roads, rescue teams were forced to enter the affected areas on foot. Local government officials, who are coordinating with the rescue teams, have stated that the exact extent of the damage, including the buried houses, remains unclear pending further investigation by the rescuers.

Jiangwan Town is currently grappling with significant disruptions, including no water or electricity supply, and communication lines are down, isolating the town from external contact. The situation is urgent, and authorities are working diligently to restore connectivity and aid those in need.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
