This is the amusing moment a fisherman tried to hang onto a tent but was blown into the air together with the rest of the structure - just like Mary Poppins flying away with her umbrella.

The man was selling fishing permits from his desk under the marquee for a local pond when the gusts truck in Guangzhou, Guangdong, in southern China, on April 18.

When the man realised that the tent was at risk of being blown away, he stood on the support rod to try and pin it down.

This seemed to work for a short while, but as the wind picked up speed, it eventually lifted the whole structure including the man into the air and blew them both off camera.

Local media reported that the man landed in nearby bushes and was unharmed. The tent was also later recovered when the winds died down and this time fixed into the ground.

Mary Poppins' ascent with her umbrella is an iconic scene form the hit 1964 movie.
