A pair of drunk vultures were released after sobering up in Connecticut.

The two birds feasted on fermented remnants they found in the dumpster and became intoxicated when rescuers discovered them on April 19.

Footage shows the animals being freed from the cage before they flew one after the other back into their habitat.

One of the birds' rescuers said the 'dynamic duo of vultures had indulged in some unexpected dumpster diving, feasting on fermented remnants that left them severely intoxicated'.

The good Samaritans said they initially presumed to be gravely ill but the vultures were later diagnosed as simply 'too drunk to fly' after thorough testing.

The rescue group administered fluids and provided the inebriated birds with a hearty meal, ensuring their comfort and recovery.

After a restful night under the care of the rescue team, the vultures were deemed fit for release back into the wild. Remarkably, they seamlessly reintegrated into their colony.
