This is the hilarious moment a hippo appeared to practice its ‘synchronised swimming’ ahead of the Olympics.

Guests at Umkumbe Bush Lodge in South Africa were treated to an unusual sight on April 12 when a male known as Hildo showed off his swimming skills.

Hilarious footage shows Hildo dive under the surface before showing off his four massive hooves at the same time.

The hippo flailed his feet above the water while onlookers couldn’t contain their laughter as they watched on.

A spokesperson from Umkumbe said: “Everyone loved seeing Hildo doing this, it was very entertaining. A few of our guests remarked it looked like synchronised swimming.

“This is really not quite common behaviour by a hippo at all, but Hildo loves doing it.

“Umkumbe Bush Lodge is a luxury tented camp and the property is family owned for years.

“Guests can expect seeing the Big 5 and Sabi Sands is quite well known for leopard sightings.”
