This is the heartstopping moment a huge python emerges on a road during a water fight.

Villagers were splashing water to celebrate the Songkran festival when a snake slithered onto the road towards them in Chonburi, Thailand, on April 21.

Footage shows the reptile crawling towards the locals who were partying outside their house. Upon seeing the animal heading towards them, they sprayed water on it to encourage it to move away.

Fortunately, a brave man came and pulled the serpent's tail to release it into the forest on the side of the road.

More than 60,000 snakes are removed in the country each year, with around 200 emergency phone calls every day in Bangkok for the removal of reptiles.

The Songkran festival, which originated in Indi, is celebrated for three days a year in Buddhist countries, where locals splash each other with water for good luck.
