Gaza - Dateline: Recent

Storyline:
Survivors at the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza Strip have been left in ruin and are living among a pile of rubble in the aftermath of a seven-day-long Israeli army assault in the vicinity of the camp.

The Palestinian Civil Defense announced on Thursday that the Israeli army had completely withdrawn following its week-long attack, with the mayor of Nuseirat saying in a press statement that the Israeli military operations had deprived the people of Nuseirat access to the most basic humanitarian services like water and sanitation.

Amal Al-Araj, a Palestinian mother who survived with her children as she was able to escape from a barrage of artillery shells that rained down on her neighborhood, said that her home was reduced to rubble by the aerial bombardment.

The repeated Israeli military incursions deep into several areas inside the Gaza Strip have decimated entire residential neighborhoods, razing many buildings to the ground, leaving many areas uninhabitable.

Health authorities in Gaza said that Israel's military operation on the Nuseirat refugee camp caused more than 500 casualties, resulting in multiple fatalities and leaving many reported missing, most of whom were innocent civilians who were shocked by the military attack on their neighborhoods.
