Thick plumes of smoke continued to rise at the Ghazipur landfill site on Tuesday morning after a fire broke out that caused breathing problems for local people. The fire started at the East Delhi landfill on Sunday evening. Authorities stated that the fire was most likely triggered by hot, and dry weather conditions.

Residents near the Ghazipur landfill reported throat and breathing irritation due to the toxic smoke emitted by the fire, highlighting the acute effects of exposure to landfill fire emissions. When the fire broke out on Sunday evening, 14 fire tenders were pressed into service to put out the blaze.
