Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Tuesday talked with his visiting Irish counterpart Micheal Martin about Gaza situation.

SOUNDBITE (Arabic): SAMEH SHOUKRY, Egyptian foreign minister
"We'll continue to work undoubtedly to reach a ceasefire. A position agreed upon by both parties should be formulated. We never despaired, as the war with such impact shouldn't continue and we hope that we can reach an agreement soon."

Shoukry necessitated reaching a permanent solution to the Palestinian problem to end violence and conflict via implementing the two-state solution and establishing a Palestinian state.

On his part, the Irish minister said that he will visit the Rafah crossing later to see the challenges, hindrances and restrictions, in addition to the insufficient humanitarian aid supplies in Gaza, asserting Ireland's support to the indispensable role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the enclave.
