This is the moment a Taiwanese tourist rampaged through a house while he was allegedly in a cannabis-induced daze in Thailand.

The shirtless foreigner named Sun, 24, allegedly smoked marijuana - legal in the country - before climbing up the gate of the home in Phuket on April 22.

CCTV footage shows Sun sneaking into the living room and examining a shelf of photos before wiping his face on a chair cover. He then pulled down his shorts exposing his buttocks as he continued to explore the rooms on the ground floor.

The trespasser from Taipei, Taiwan, was caught by the shocked homeowner when he walked up the stairs to the second floor.

Police Captain Theera Chanthong of the Kathu Police Station said they received a report at 5:30 pm.

Sun was detained and appeared unable to communicate as he was hauled onto a police truck. The officers found on the street a bong and a pair of pants believed to belong to him.

Locals who recognised Sun said he had been renting a house with three men and a woman for six months.

Police Captain Theera said: 'We took the Taiwanese man to the police station before sending him to the Vachira Phuket Hospital for treatment.'

The unnamed homeowner said: 'I was shocked when I saw the stranger inside my house. I didn't know how he went inside or why, so I tried talking to him. I think he might have been intoxicated because he wouldn't answer my questions. I called the police since I was scared he would hurt me and my family.'

Cannabis was de-listed as a banned narcotic in Thailand in June 2022.

Bungling Thai authorities are now scrambling to regulate its use as officials report a rising number of marijuana addictions per month and an eruption of tens of thousands of gaudy neon-lit shops selling marijuana.
