This is the dramatic moment a teacher saved a girl choking on a piece of candy in Thailand.

The youngster was enjoying the sweet treat during recess when it became lodged in her throat at the Wat Boonyapradit School in Bangkok on January 23.

CCTV footage shows how the girl in a long ponytail appearing to cry in panic, prompting her quick-thinking classmates to call an adult for help.

The teacher, Toei, performed the Heimlich manoeuvre, forcing the candy out of the girl's airway.

Toei said: 'It was only a minute, but it was the longest minute of my life. I'm proud of my students for acting quickly during the emergency.'
