Two women and a man have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a young woman was found dead at a house in a picturesque riverside town.

Emergency services were called to an address on Wassell Drive, in Bewdley, Worcs., at around 5.10pm on Tuesday (23/4).

The victim, aged in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene and three people arrested remain in custody being quizzed by detectives.

West Mercia Police said an increased police presence will be seen around the town, which sits on the banks of the River Severn, while they continue their investigation.

A force spokesperson said: "The woman's family have been informed and will be supported by a specially trained Family Liaison Officer."

"Local residents can expect an increased police presence in the area for their reassurance and whilst the early stages of the investigation are carried out."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 17.04pm to an incident at a private address on Wassell Drive. "

"One ambulance attended the scene. Upon arrival we found a woman. "

"Unfortunately, it was immediately clear that nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed deceased at the scene."
