Argentina: University march in defence of public education and against Milei's policies 2
Buenos Aires, Argentina - April 23, 2024
Buenos Aires, Cordoba, La Plata and Mar del Plata - the cities most renowned for their universities - were the protagonists on Tuesday for the massive demonstrations that took place in defence of public education and in demand to the national government for more budget for operating expenses and teachers' salaries.
Due to the proximity, activists and leaders from La Plata travelled to the city of Buenos Aires to join the mobilisation that began at 14.30 from Plaza Houssay, with a first stop at the National Congress, and ended at Plaza de Mayo. For this reason, Constitucion station was packed with young people and leaders who arrived at midday today.
In addition, the educational institutions of the Buenos Aires capital announced the justified absence for those students who took part in the protest. The measure also covered teaching and non-teaching staff.
