Severe winds as Storm Jake hits UK
Strong winds buffeted the Cornish coast today, gusting up to 75 mph as Storm Jake made itself felt. Powerful waves up to twenty five feet covered coastal communities like St Ives in spray.
Even the lampposts were swaying back and forth, in a scene reminiscent of the sci-fi film Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
Gannets and seagulls wheel on the high winds, seemingly enjoying the blustery conditions.
