Khan Younis, Gaza Strip - April 24, 2024

Storyline:
A Palestinian civil defense team said on Thursday that nearly 400 bodies were recovered from mass graves found around a Gaza hospital after Israeli forces departed the complex, while Israel has denied accusations that it was responsible for burying them.

Palestinians have uncovered 392 bodies of people buried around the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis City of southern Gaza, where three separate mass graves were found – one behind the morgue, one in front of the morgue, and one near the dialysis building, local Civil Defense authorities told a news conference.

A bulldozer was seen carrying the bodies of around ten Palestinians when a CGTN correspondent visited the area on Wednesday. Some of them are waiting for their family members to come, identify them and then take them to burial. Families coming here were crying all together after the loss, and after seeing the shape of the bodies that were discovered.

Israeli army spokesman Major Nadav Shoshani claimed earlier this week on X that "The grave in question was dug - by Gazans - a few months ago."

The United Nations human rights chief Volker Turk has called for independent investigations into reports of mass graves in the enclave.
