A toddler stuck inside a car on a hot day was rescued by firemen.

The two-year-old boy named Nutthanan Dualyai was locked in the sedan with the car key when he shut the door as mum Chaon Sunthornchuen, 48, stepped out in Chachoengsao, Thailand, on April 23.

He could not follow his mother's instructions, so the parent called the rescuers for help with the youngster crying and scared inside the Honda Jazz.

Footage shows the rescuers trying to calm the kid while peering through the glass. They tried to insert a metal rod through the gaps in the door and open it, but the boy grabbed it instead.

The rescue team had to act quickly to save Nutthanan from the extremely hot weather, so they contacted an expert locksmith who could lockpick the door quickly.

Chaon said: 'I was heading home, so I opened the car's door and put my son in the front seat while I turned my back to put my items inside.

'My son suddenly closed the door and trapped himself, which I was unable to open because the key was inside.

'I guess my son closed the door to prank me with his innocence and naughtiness, unknowingly that he would get trapped.

'I was worried that he would be unable to breathe, so I called the rescue team to help him.

'From now on, this will be a lesson not to leave the key with only my child inside.'

The boy was safe and he drove home unhurt with his mother who thanked the responding officers.
