STORYLINE:

Russian designers brought traditions, folk style and history to the catwalk as Volga Fashion Week was held in Moscow.

This is kokoshnik, an old Russian traditional headdress.

Once a symbol of beauty and traditions, today it inspires designers across the country.

"I was inspired by the images of Russian culture, its energy, mystery and iconography, and of course, folk songs."

To transform old images into the modern world, Yasna changed the size and designed unique elements.

"I really wanted to make it understandable for young people and the modern world, so I came up with my own print, keeping the same shape."

Prints and symbols are also in stylized traditional costumes of the people living in Mordovia - a republic of Russia.

"The entire collection is created exclusively from natural fabrics. It is cashmere, silk, chiffon. Each stitch is exclusively handmade!
These costumes are not to watch, they are to read as ethnic symbols, traditional relations, and headdresses are represented here."

Another special collection by Anika Kerimova was demonstrated at Volga Fashion Week.

Models of this inclusive collection are ordinary women. Some of them have been through heartbreaking experiences.

"The only and most important thing that inspires me is women. Many women would like to open up in this world as individuals, and our clothes contribute to this in full."

For eight years, Volga Fashion Week has been bringing together the most talented youth from all over Russia and even abroad.

Some of the designers are just making their first steps and some have already been recognized. Yet all their collections reflect the history and traditions of their native land.
