Fort McCoy, WI, USA - 23.04.2024

On April 23, 2024, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) conducted a significant effort at Big Sandy Lake at South Post, Fort McCoy, Wisconsin. USFWS staff stocked approximately 15,000 rainbow trout in various lakes and ponds around Fort McCoy. Organized by the USFWS National Fish Hatchery in Genoa, Wisconsin, the operation was aimed at increasing recreational opportunities for anglers and improving the aquatic ecosystem.

Known as a popular game fish, rainbow trout are poised to enrich the fishing experience for recreational fishermen who frequent Fort McCoy's waterways. The strategic stocking initiative not only serves recreational interests, but also promotes the conservation and sustainability of aquatic habitat in the area.
