Zürich, Switzerland - 24.04.2024

Zurich Zoo is building a Panterra big cat habitat that will appeal to both animals and visitors. The centerpiece of this habitat is a 17-meter-long bridge designed to facilitate the passage of endangered big cats such as tigers, lions and snow leopards.

28.5 tons of steel were used to make the podium. The bridge itself is 17 meters long and weighs 15 tons, and its additional elements, such as spruce trunks and protruding branches, imitate the natural environment.

In addition, the zoo is undergoing renovations to create a special habitat for insects and spiders to raise awareness of the issue of declining invertebrate biodiversity. Guests can explore the insect house and observe a variety of bugs, beetles and spiders up close, without the barrier of glass windows.
