An elderly man was spotted in a park, his hands tracing the branches of a tree, smoothing its bark with each pass in eastern China.

The bizarre video was filmed in the city of Yantai in Shandong Province on April 21.

Witness Mr. Liu described encountering this scene, expressing curiosity as he had never before witnessed someone "playing" with a tree in such a manner.

Approaching the elderly man, Mr. Liu learned that he had been practicing this activity for four years as a means of exercising.

The term "playing" refers to the process of handling, rubbing, and maintaining collectible items. Through this practice, the colour of collectibles gradually deepens, their texture becomes more polished, and their lustre becomes more subdued.

Simply put, "playing" involves using hands to repeatedly rub collectibles, causing physical changes and chemical reactions on their surface, thereby improving their appearance and texture.
