Several landslides and avalanches hit northern India's Jammu and Kashmir.

The incident took place in Sarbal area of Sonamarg in Ganderbal on April 29.

Visuals showed snow mixed with mud crumbling down the mountain.

In another visual an excavator was seen removing the snow blocking the area.

Officials reported no casualties or financial losses resulting from the avalanche hitting the forested area of Sonamarg, indicating no damage occurred. Visuals depicted Project Beacon, the Border Roads Organisation's (BRO) snow-clearing operation at the site. Project Beacon, launched in the 1960s, stands as BRO's oldest initiative.

A BRO team rescued 35 vehicles trapped in snow at Razdan Top on the Bandipora-Gurez road in Jammu and Kashmir, stranded due to adverse weather conditions, including snowfall and snowstorms.

On April 27, Pernote village, approximately six kilometers from Ramban town in Jammu and Kashmir, suffered significant damage to infrastructure, homes, and power structures due to ongoing landslides. Affected villagers were relocated to Panchayat Ghar and other shelters, receiving medical assistance and food aid from the authorities.
