This is the horrifying moment a German Shepherd launched a vicious attack on a six-year-old girl in India.

CCTV footage shows the aggressive canine on a leash dragging its female owner and lunging at a youngster on a bicycle at a park in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.

The kid named Vanya Chauhan pulled away and cried for her mummy, Namita, who rushed to scare the pooch and called for help.

The little girl suffered injuries on her hands and waist from the dog's bites and scratches before fleeing to her mum.

Mother Namita filed a complaint with the police.

She said: 'I am adamant that necessary measures be taken to ensure the safety of residents, including the removal of the dog from the community's premises.'
