After spending the night incubating her eggs, this female starling welcomed back her mate to the nest with a horse-like whinny.

A wildlife watcher captured this adorable moment in Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria.

They told Newsflare: "As the sun begins to rise, she can hardly contain her excitement and lets out a joyful call, similar to a horse's whinny, to welcome her beloved back home. Witnessing these feathered friends reunite after a long night apart is a heartwarming sight."
