On April 30, 2024, Mount Ruang erupted for the second time in two weeks, causing volcanic ash to darken the skies over Talisei Island in North Sulawesi, Indonesia. At 9:30 AM, the video captured the moment when the sky turned dark due to the volcanic ash covering everything on land. Despite the sky gradually brightening, the ash remained visible on the ground. Thousands of residents in Sitaro Islands District, North Sulawesi, have been evacuated due to the second-phase eruption of Mount Ruang, according to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB). According to the BNPB, since the first phase of the eruption on April 17, at least 3,614 houses, two churches, and school buildings have been damaged by the materials and shocks from the eruption.
