Kenya: Large-scale work continues to rescue tourists affected by floods on the Talek River
Narok, Kenya - May 1, 2024
Devastating floods caused by the overflowing Talek River have left tourists stranded in more than 14 tourist camps. The Kenya Red Cross, in collaboration with the national and Narok County Governments, the Mara Elephants Project and local communities, launched a comprehensive search and rescue operation.
The joint efforts of emergency services resulted in the successful evacuation of 36 people by air rescue and a further 25 people by water rescue teams.
