Our life size cut-outs, specific to the species of nestling we have temporarily in our care, help us to ensure baby(ies) don't imprint on the human caregiver. Stuffed animals and puppets help too, but we converted to actual species representations so we don't confuse the littles with details that are not appropriate. Their little brains are memorising everything they need to know to recognise their own kind. This nestling Barred owl gets to go home to his 3-dimensional parents this late day. Lucky for him, he has only been with us for a short time.
