Escambia County, FL, USA - May 2, 2024

Escambia County deputies were forced to take drastic measures to apprehend a fleeing suspect late Thursday night, an incident captured on dashcam footage and recounted by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Alexander George Deloach, with an address in Molino, Florida, was located on the 8400 block of Old Spanish Trail. Allegedly attempting to evade deputies, Deloach nearly struck them with his vehicle during the pursuit.

In a bid to halt Deloach's dangerous escape, deputies executed a PIT maneuver at the intersection of Harbor Square and Breakwater Circle. A Precision Immobilization Technique involves law enforcement forcing a vehicle to turn sideways, causing it to spin and come to a stop.

Following the apprehension, Deloach was arrested and charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, fleeing and eluding, possession of cocaine, and possession of marijuana less than 20 grams. Additionally, it was revealed that Deloach had active warrants for homicide, revoked bond, and grand theft of a motor vehicle.

The incident, occurring on May 2nd, 2024, around 10:00 pm, underscores the dangers law enforcement officers face in their efforts to uphold public safety.
