Pro Palestinian protesters occupy National Monument on Dam Square Amsterdam ahead of Remembrance Day ceremony

A group of protesters waving flags and chanting pro Palestinian slogans have occupied the area around the National Monument on Dam Square in Amsterdam. The area is normally open to the public but had been closed for cleaning and preparation for Remembrance Day ceremonies taking place on Saturday 4th May. The king is due to lay flowers at the monument which was built in 1956. The protesters also hung banners from the monument and chanted the controversial slogan "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free".
