Two flight instructors on a training flight both survived a plane crash in Malaysia this morning.

Captain Shahrul Imran, 30, and fellow aviation teacher Le Ho Jia, 20, were onboard the Cessna 172 light aircraft when it plunged into woodland in Sungkai City, Perak State, at 9:46 am local time.

Rescue teams pulled both survivors from the wreckage. They were conscious and taken to the local hospital.

Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, Assistant Director of the Operations Division of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Perak, said: 'The evacuation of victims has been carried out by deploying four-wheeled vehicles.

'The two victims were found with the male flight instructor suffering from a broken left thigh, while the female instructor suffered injuries to her face.'
