Meteors illuminated the sky over cities in Spain.

Compilation footage shows the bright balls appearing and intensifying their glow in the sky on May 2 over the cities of Albacete and Cuenca.

The celestial event, identified as GRAN ALFA BOOTIDA SPMN020524B, was one of the brightest captured by the Barx-La Drova station in Valencia this year.

It stunned observers with its vivid colours resembling a large blue Bengal light, which was also observed in Murcia.

Preliminary analysis suggests it may have been produced by a chondrite, rich in mafic silicates, which extinguished without producing a meteorite.
