A pair of cheeky monitor lizards played in a swimming pool while the house owner was away.

The reptiles waited for the residents to leave then emerged from garden bushes on the side of the pool before taking a dip in Phuket, Thailand on April 30.

CCTV footage shows the lizard jumping into the water while the other one rests on the edge.

The animal then climbed up and chased each other on the corner of the property before leaving in opposite directions.

Asian water monitor lizards normally live in canals, swamps, sewers and ponds in cities in Thailand. They feed on fish, snakes, frogs and scraps of food left by humans.

The reptiles are aggressive when threatened and have a mildly venomous bite, sometimes carrying harmful bacteria. The Godzilla-like reptiles are also a protected species in the country so their population thrives.
