This is the shocking moment a teacher and a school headmistress fought in a classroom in India.

The principal, seen in the video wearing a pink kurta or dress, confronted the teacher Gunjan Choudhary for her alleged constant tardiness at a school in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, on May 2.

Footage shows the two women coming to blows, with the headmistress shoving Gunjan onto a chair, appearing to scratch her face while pulling on her clothes as other employees tried to break up the tussle.

A voice in the background was reportedly heard saying: 'This will be filmed. Madam is being rude. Does this befit you?'

The headmistress and the teacher allegedly cursed at each other and used vulgar language which was heard by several youngsters crowding outside the classroom.

The headmistress's driver, who tried to separate both women, was also reportedly attacked by Gunjan.

Gunjan was said to have suffered injuries in the scuffle. The school headmistress has filed a complaint against her.

District Basic Education Officer Jitendra Kumar Gond said local authorities have been informed of the case. He said: 'What's going on is being looked at. We won't say anything until the investigation is completed.'

Inspector Neeraj Kumar Sharma of the Sikandra Police Station said an investigation is underway.
