Ferry crew saves drowning woman from river
This is the moment a boat crew rescued a drowning woman in a river.
The Thai Smile Boat of Urban Line ferry workers heard someone shouting for help while sailing across the Chao Phraya River in Nonthaburi, Thailand, on May 2.
Footage shows the woman struggling to stay afloat while the ferry steered near her and an orange rubber ring was tossed in her aid.
One of the crew, Tongthong Inhom, jumped into the water to assist her in climbing up the vessel before she was checked for injuries.
One of the crew said: ‘We were performing our duties when the captain heard someone shouting for help near Rama V Bridge.
'He checked the cameras on our boats and found the victim floating under the bridge asking for help, so he instructed the staff to initiate the rescue.
'We threw a safety ring before steering near her and sent Tongthong to jump down to rescue her safely.'
Aside from steersman Tongthong, engineer Sarawut Bootwong and service attendant Borigarn Prathana helped the woman.
It was unclear how the woman fell into the water, but she was safely taken to the port.
It wasn't the first time the crew saved a person from the river. On April 12, the crew rescued a man who attempted to end his life by jumping into the river near the Parliament House.
